Radio Authority Advertises Norwich Multiplex
![]()
The Radio Authority has advertised the local digital multiplex licence for Norwich and the surrounding area. The potential audience of over 15 year olds for the area covered is 550,000.
The current commercial licences held for the Norwich area are all for stations either owned or part-owned by GWR: Broadland 102, Classic Gold Digital Amber and Vibe FM. GWR has already made successful bids for other digital multiplexes through its wholly owned subsidiary, Now Digital (see Southend And Chelmsford Local Digital Radio Multiplex Awarded To Now Digital) and through the Digital Radio Group consortium (see Digital Radio Group Wins Third London Multiplex).
It is not known whether GWR will look to strengthen its position in the area by applying for this licence, but the closing date for applications is 19 March 2002. The Radio Authority expects to award the 12 year licence in early summer next year.
