The Radio Authority has awarded the local digital multiplex licence for Northern Ireland to Score Digital. The licence is designed to deliver digital radio programming and data services to an area with an adult population of up to around 1.2m. It is proposing to broadcast a total of ten programme services including Downtown and Cool FM, provided by Downtown Radio, City Beat, Classic FM and Virgin in addition to BBC Radio Ulster.
Broadcasting will commence between August and October 2001.
This week will see the Radio Authority advertise the local digital multiplex licence for Aberdeen and surrounding area, a total population of 325,000.
