Radio Authority Seeks Public Opinion

The Radio Authority is inviting comments from the general public regarding applications for the East Midlands and Cambridge Independent Local Radio licences.

According to the Broadcasting Act 1996 a company may not hold two licenses to broadcast on the same waveband unless it is in the public’s interest. Radio Trent Ltd, part of the GWR Group is one of twelve applicants for the East Midlands license. GWR Group is also among four applicants for the Cambridge license. Since the group is an existing holder of FM licences in the areas, the Radio Authority will determine the validity of GWR’s application from the public’s response.
