Radio Industry Response Positive
The Radio industry has announced initial response to the Government’s proposals on digital terrestrial broadcasting, mostly positive.
The Radio Authority has particularly highlighted the following proposals; the document will make possible an expansion of Independent Radio; the radio spectrum will be able to be used more efficiently and it will provide CD quality sound radio broadcasting, as well as easier tuning. The Authority will issue a full response in the Autumn.
The Association of Independent Radio Companies has welcomed the proposal to offer guaranteed places on a national multiplex to the three national licences but would welcome clarification regarding local commercial radio services, which are not guaranteed places.
