Radio Industry Sets Up JIC

The Radio Advertising Bureau and senior commercial radio industry figures have agreed to set up a working body called the Joint Industry Commercial Radio IT Futures group (JICRIT) which will aim at standardising the buying and selling of radio airtime as well as making the medium more accountable.

It was agreed at a meeting last week that there should be uniform electronic systems at both sales houses and agencies for when campaigns are booked. This would also lead to a standardised transmission reports.

One of the key points to emerge from last October’s RAB conference was that for commercial radio to increase its share of display advertising there would need to be moves to standardise its system for buying and selling airtime. Many in the industry believe it can be chaotic and rather anarchic at times.
