Radio Ireland Goes On Air

Radio Ireland, the new national independent radio station, launches today on frequencies between 100 and 102 MHz.

The station, whose backers include Scottish Radio and ICC Venture Capital, will air specialist items such as comedy, arts, education and Irish language programming as well as more mainstream drama. It will run an early morning current affairs programme called Daybreak and an experienced news team has been recruited to oversee the station’s other current affairs slots and news bulletins. In the evening entertainment will come in the shape of a rock music show as well as a magazine slot covering music “from today and yesterday.”
