Radio Revenue For Q2 In 1996
Commercial Radio has grown strongly in the second quarter achieving £292.3 million up to June 1996, giving it an increase of 18%. Compared to the same quarter last year there has been an increase of 16.5% when spending reached £77.2 million..

Revenue from national advertisers has also continued to grow more quickly with an annual growth of 20%. The latest figures from the Advertising Association showed that Commercial Radio accounted for 4.4% of display advertising in the year to March 1996.

Justin Sampson, director of operations at the RAB commented “1996 growth to date augurs well for another successful year for Commercial Radio and we are aware that industry forecasts are being upgraded”. He predicts that the end of year results will show growth of the order of 18% which will bring radio closer to achieving a 5% share of display advertising.
