Radio Revenue Up By 22.7% In 1995

Commercial radio’s total advertising revenue in 1995 grew by 22.7% to £270.2 million. The final quarter of 1995 took £77.6m which is the highest ever quarterly revenue taken for Commercial Radio.

Within this sustained growth, revenue from National advertisers continues to grow more rapidly – growth across 1995 was 28.1%. Latest figures from the Advertising Association show the total display marketplace to have grown by less than 9% in the first nine months of 1995. For the third year in a row therefore Commercial Radio was the UK’s fastest growing advertising medium.

Justin Sampson, Strategic Planner at RAB, said: “With agency forecasts for 1996 predicting that Commercial radio will again be the fastest growing advertising medium, we are optimistic that 1996 will see Commercial Radio approach 5% of all display advertising revenue.”
