Radio Times ABC Up For First Time In Three Years

Radio Times’ sales are up year on year for the first time in three years, BBC Magazines announced today. The ABC figure for Jul-Dec 1995 is 1,464,392, up 450 copies a week against the same period in 1994 and 2% up period on period.

Publishing Director Rupert Miles said: “Despite a particularly challenging set of problems in the magazine industry over the past year ranging from National Lottery competition to the hot summer to paper price increases, Radio Times has continued to conjure up its special brand of magic week after week. A vigorous multi-level marketing programme has been working hand in hand with the editorial drive.

Editor Nicholas Brett said “It seems the message is getting through. I’m particularly pleased that it’s reached those who had a deep-rooted perception of RT, formed in childhood, of a magazine with crinkly edges and ads for haemorrhoid treatments. They’ve discovered at last that Radio Times is a thoroughly modern magazine.”
