Radio To Expand In Ireland

The Independent Radio and Television Commission has announced that it is inviting applications for radio contracts in 19 areas around Ireland. Most of these licences will be for community or community of interest radio services. One special interest radio service for the Dublin area will also be available.

The Dublin licence will be public service in nature and be operated by a non-profit maximising organisation, with programming being primarily talk-based.

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is 5pm on January 30 1998.
