RAJAR Appoints New Managing Director
The Radio Joint Audience Research (RAJAR) body has this morning announced the appointment of Jane O’Hara as its new managing director. She replaces current executive director, Peter Jenkins, who is planning to leave the group at the end of May 2000 (see RAJAR Director To Leave In Spring 2000). O’Hara currently works as a consultant for a number of companies, which have included the Radio Advertising Bureau and BBC Worldwide, and recently held the position of marketing director of Talk Radio.
Commenting on the appointment, RAJAR’s chairman John Whitney, says: “[Jane] has a very broad background in radio and over the years has earned the respect of the industry … we are very pleased Jane has accepted our offer of managing director.”
O’Hara herself says: “I have always been a radio enthusiast and am familiar with RAJAR, having used it on the buying and sales side of the industry and as a client station. I am greatly looking forward to taking up this new position and the challenges it presents, which among others include overseeing the next contract period and assessing the viability of electronic measurement systems.”
Jenkins joined RAJAR in 1997 and oversaw the development and implementation of the new measurement system which was introduced in January 1999 (see RAJAR – The New Methodology Explained). “The new methodology has greatly improved the accuracy of RAJAR data and much of the credit for this must go to Peter,” adds Whitney.
Since the executive director’s responsibilities have expanded over the past few years, RAJAR has created the two new posts of managing director and research director; the latter has yet to be filled.
