RAJAR Q4 2010: Round-up

RAJAR

RAJAR figures for Q4 2010 saw stand-out performances from a number of commercial radio stations, including talkSPORT and Kiss 100 FM.

In the national market, there were positive results for the networks, while individual stations continued to gain listeners. Classic FM, talkSPORT and Panjab Radio were among many good performances this quarter.

BBC Radio 2 is a non-mover at the top of the breakfast show chart, although the real success stories were seen by BBC Radio FIVE LIVE, Classic FM and talkSPORT in the national listings. 95.8 Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon continue to reign the London breakfast chart, though Rickie and Melvin’s show provided an impressive boost for Kiss 100 FM.

Magic 105.4 and 95.8 Capital FM continue to claim the top spots in London, though once again Kiss 100 FM stood out, moving in to the top three for the first time.

Digital Radio hasn’t missed out on the action either – 20.9 million people now tune in to listen to the radio via a digital receiver each week, while DAB set ownership continues to rise (over a third of the UK population now live in a household with a DAB receiver).

Share of radio listening via a digital platform is also up to 25%, accounting for one quarter of all radio listening, which bodes well for the digital switchover.

Meanwhile, listening to digital radio via other platforms such as mobiles, digital televisions and the internet continues to grow in popularity.
