Ethnic Background

Mixed race options have been included for the first time under ethnic background. These are:

Mixed – White/Black Caribbean Mixed – White/Black African Mixed – White/Asian Mixed – Other Mixed Background

The previous options, Black-British and Asian-British, no longer appear on the survey. This brings RAJAR into line with the standard ONS question on ethnic background, as well as the primary source used for ethnic population estimates on RAJAR (Labour Force Survey).

Household Shopping

This question has been rephrased from “Are you responsible for the main food and general household shopping?” to “Are you mainly or jointly responsible for the main food and general household shopping?” This brings the RAJAR survey into line with other joint industry surveys.

Number of radio sets in household

Rather than split out car radios and household radios, the survey now asks how many radio sets are in the household (including car radios).

Telephone question

Respondents are no longer asked whether they have a telephone in their household.

Digital TV Services

In addition to satellite, cable and Freeview respondents are now asked if they can receive Digital TV via a TV set with digital built in (iDTV).

Subscribers can access the Radio database by selecting “Radio” from the drop-down box at the top of this page.
