RAJAR To Re-Issue Listening Figures For Welsh Stations
![]()
RAJAR is re-issuing third quarter listening figures for a number of radio stations and groups with total service areas that include Wales, following a technical problem that caused the initial data to be misreported.
The error concerns stations reporting on a six or twelve month sample and was caused by the incorrect application of controls for Welsh speaking populations.
These weights are unique to Wales and RAJAR insists that stations outside of the area, as well as those reporting on a three month sample, remain unaffected.
The audience measurement body also stresses that the error has nothing to do with the current diary system of audience measurement, which has been in the spotlight following its recent decision not to introduce an electronic radio audience measurement system in the immediate future (see RAJAR Says ‘No For Now’ To Electronic Measurement).
The quarter three data has been re-run and revised top-line figures for the relevant stations will be available on the RAJAR website by Wednesday 12 November. The stations concerned have been informed and revised sections for the printed volumes will be issued in due course.
Ipsos-RSL is in the process of conducting an investigation into the cause of the error, which is believed to be the result of a software bug activated by an “unusual and unforeseen” set of conditions.
