Youth cable channel Rapture is set to launch “very soon” according to a company spokesman. The channel, which was first announced in 1995 and due to launch in April last year, has been delayed numerous times.
Newsline was told that the delay is not due to financial or carriage problems but is more to do with final programming deals being negotiated. Rapture, backed by United News & Media, is attempting to attract a target audience of 12-20 year olds with over 2000 hours worth of UK originated programming created by independent production house Kudos Productions. Programming will include chat shows, art programmes and films made by children. It will broadcast seven days a week from 5pm till midnight.
…Rainbow Television Network, the gay cable channel *Gay TV Channel To Launch, has lost one of its major backers, venture capitalist group Apex & Partners. New partners are now being sought but is understood that the channel will still go ahead.
