RDF Media sold for £52 million

RDF Media Logo Independent production company RDF Media has been sold to Bidco, a investor set up by RDF’s executives, for £52 million.

RDF’s independent directors Richard Eyre, Maggie Carver and Tim Weller revealed that they had received a cash proposal for an offer of 120p per share earlier this month.

The production company, which is behind programmes such as Wife Swap, Location, Location, Location and Faking It, confirmed today a deal has been agreed between the two companies.

Bidco is a newly incorporated private limited company formed by RDF’s executive directors and Dasym, which already owns a 27,5% stake in RDF Media.

Last year, RDF found itself at the centre of the controversial ‘Queensgate’ scandal with the BBC and Buckingham Palace, after producing the trailer for A Year with the Queen (see Queen Documentary Might Never Be Shown).

As a result, the producer of RDF Stephen Lambert was forced to quit after he admitted wrongly editing footage of the Queen (see Fincham Quits Following Queen Doco Shocker).
