Record July Figures For Cable TV Penetration
According to the latest Independent Television Commission (ITC) report, cable television penetration has reached its highest rate ever for a July quarter, up 0.3% to 21.3%, in what is traditionally a poor season for TV viewing.
Cable service penetration – homes which take either TV or cable or both – remains just above 30% at 30.3%, down 0.3% on the April 96 figure.
There are now 114 operating franchises, up only 6 on the previous period and 22 up on the same period last year.
The number of Broadband homes passed has increased at virtually the same rate as homes connected up 8.7% and 8.1% respectively on the previous period.
Cable telephone connection have grown at almost twice the speed of TV connections up 13.8% to 1,857,494.
