BARB estimates put the average audience for Princess Diana’s funeral at 31.3million, with a peak of 31.8m between 11:30am and 11:45am. This is the largest British television audience for a single event and represents 59% of the entire nation.
According to figures from ITN, ITV’s coverage at 11:30am was watched by 11.7 million people compared to the BBC’s 19.3m.
…There were large sales increases across all newspaper markets last week, according to estimates in today’s FT. Middle market newspapers saw sales increases of 27% on Monday, 14.6% on Tuesday and 9.7% on Wednesday. Broadsheets saw rises of 28% on Monday, 11.8% on Tuesday and 8.9% on Wednesday. The tabloids went up 18% on Monday and then 3.5% on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
