It is believed that Johnston Press, Midland Independent Newspapers and the Guardian Media Group are forming a consortium to bid for all Reed Regional Newspapers.
The consortium would then divide the Reed Regional titles into three areas between them; London, Midlands and Northern Ireland. Johnston Press confirmed to MediaTel that they are interested in buying some of Reed Regional titles, but were unwilling to comment on the consortium rumours, as were both MIN and Guardian. It is expected that the Reed’s Regional titles, which include 4 evening and 90 weekly titles, will fetch between £150m and £200m.
