Reed Expects IPC Sell-Off By Early 1998

Reed Elsevier, in an update on its trading position, has said that it expects to sell off its IPC magazines business in early 1998. Despite rumours that the arm may be bought by an IPC management team, led by chairman John Mellon, Reed say that they are still reviewing “available options”.

The publishing group also said that it expects to set out the Wolters Kluwer merger proposal (subscribers see Reed Elsevier To Merge With Dutch Rival) to shareholders on 27 March 1998, with a decision being made at the AGM on 29 April.
