Virgin Radio has signed madcap comic Vic Reeves to its schedule in his own night-time slot, following a successful stint as stand in presenter for Suggs’ Party Classics show.
The legendary comedian will front his own show every Wednesday and Thursday night between 7 and 10pm, starting from 21 September.
The new show promises a mix of “madness and mayhem” from one of the country’s best and most loved comedians. Listeners will also pit their wits against one of the sharpest minds in comedy, creating a unique live show each night.
Looking forward to the new show, Reeves said: “I love Virgin Radio already, it plays my favourite music, and I will be like a child in a sweet shop when I get behind the desk. I have free reign on my show and I intend to talk to the funniest people in the country, the public, while spinning a few tracks – perfect.”
Paul Jackson, programme director at Virgin Radio, added: “I am amazed that Vic has not had his own radio show before, and after hearing him standing in for Suggs, we had to find him a slot. Our listeners grew up with Vic and his humour is perfect for the station.”
Virgin has been busy building its presenter line-up in recent months, securing the services of Tim Lovejoy and Christian O’Connell, as well as retaining station favourites, Pete and Geoff (see Virgin Signs O’Connell As New Breakfast Host).
