Regional ABCs and VFDs July – December 1997
There was very little year on year change among most paid-for regional titles for this period. Overall for July-December 1997 there were 8.883 million copies sold, up 0.21% on the previous year. Among the top ten paid-for titles in the UK by circulation, the daily Manchester Evening News showed the biggest increase with a rise of 1% year on year to 173,191 while the Birmingham Evening Mail has the largest circulation at 192,188.
The free regional titles saw the St. Albans & Harpenden Observer increase its distribution the most, up 41.8% year on year to 53,045 copies. The Informer Series in London currently holds the greatest overall distribution of regional free titles with 484,131 copies.
