Taking this into account, The West Briton can claim the prize as Britain’s highest circulation paid weekly regional, with 49,457 copies sold in the last six months of last year. The Essex Chronicle is also maintaining a strong position and goes into the number 2 spot; the title recorded 49,005 sales, an actual increase of 1,900 purchasers. The Donegal Peoples Press, however, has seen the biggest percentage circulation rise in this period, rising 17.77% to record 3,830 sales.

At the other side of the scale, The Newton & Golborne Guardian recorded the lowest circulation this period, falling 7.06% year-on-year and selling only 1,606 copies. Second from the bottom, is the Luton News Series. This title is struggling to keep above the 10,000 mark, recording only 10,153 sales, representing a loss of 1,752 paying readers year-on-year. Although the Ellesmere Port Pioneer recorded the greatest percentage fall overall, losing 19.05% of its paid readership year-on-year; the title recorded 6,672 sales.
