Regional Independent To Cut Jobs Under Development Plans
Regional newspaper and magazine publisher, Regional Independent Media (RIM), has announced that it is to axe around 250 jobs in a rationalisation and development programme. The job losses will be spread across the Group’s ten operating companies in the North of England. The greatest losses will be at RIM’s primary production centres in Leeds and Sheffield.
At the same time the Group, which publishes the Yorkshire Evening Post, is investing £6.5 million over the next twelve months in a development programme that will see the launch of a number of new titles.
Chris Oakley, RIM chief executive, said: “The investment is a signal of our confidence in the future and our publishing centres. The rationalisation is a regrettable but necessary step to ensure that we can move forward operating in the most efficient way.”
