Reuters And Dow Jones Link Up Internet Business Services
Dow Jones and Reuters are to combine their interactive business services, Dow Jones Interactive and Reuters Business Briefing, in venture that will hold combined revenues of over $225 million (£139 million).
The new company, called Dow Jones Reuters Business Interactive LLC, will be a leading global service provider of proprietary and third-party business information to corporate and professional markets. It will target particularly business professionals at their desktops through the internet.
Via the internet, the 50:50 owned company will provide corporate news, information and research data for a number of categories of business professionals. The two companies claim that research shows a potential five million such users worldwide, spending around $6 billion by 2002.
Peter Job, chief executive at Reuters, said: “The business information market is growing rapidly. To benefit fully from its growth one needs size, considerable information access and a leading market position. This combination provides those attributes and offers both partners excellent opportunities to realise the potential of the business information market worldwide, particularly through exploiting internet technology.”
