Reuters Launches Live TV Stream

Reuters is launching Reuters television (RTV) on its website.

RTV will appear in streamed video form on Reuters.co.uk this week and will provide users with a daily schedule of financial programmes, including live coverage of “market moving” events, footage of economic indicators and interviews with market figures.

Reuters’ UK personal finance editor, Bernard Hickey, said: “The addition of RTV to the site not only showcases Reuters multimedia capabilities, it also provides our users with extremely valuable financial news and information whenever they are online.”

In addition to the live video stream, a multimedia box, in which Reuters journalists will provide running summaries on the live content, will be implemented later in the year.

Editor of RTV, Tara Joseph, added: “Streaming RTV onto the site will for the first time allow web users to make decisions based upon exactly the same information as the market professional in the dealing room.”

The launch of RTV is the latest of a series of developments to enhance Reuters’ online presence.

Earlier in the year the group strengthened its international position with the acquisition of content and trading applications for US institutional securities businesses from Bridge Information (see Reuters Shares Boosted By Bridge Information Systems Purchase).
