Review Of Guardian Guide

This Saturday (4 Sep) the Guardian launched its new Saturday listings and entertainment section for London, The Guide.

The supplement is, as has been heavily advertised, pocket sized. The 84 pages are divided into three sections; a preview section, an arts and entertainments section, and a TV and radio section.

The preview section includes one feature on Hollywood films, plus the week’s highlights in both films and television and live entertainment in the city. There then follows listings of cinemas, clubs, music, theatre and exhibitions.

The final section is a full list of the week’s television and radio, with two articles to finish off.

The guide is printed on high-quality newspaper, with a glossy cover. There are 20 pages given over to advertising, much of this classified. The lack of editorial does not make the Guide particularly interesting reading, but it is a useful guide to what is going on in London.
