Review: The Independent’s Network
The Independent has launched a new IT section on Mondays. The 16-page tabloid pull-out features business news, Websites of special interest, an opinion column and information regarding games, languages and hardware.
In terms of layout Network can look a bit untidy and dull – the photographs used are small and mainly mono and there are no graphics or drawings. The features are interesting and informative, though sometimes over-technical. The section, though covering most aspects of IT, is biased heavily towards the Internet. Five of the sixteen pages are devoted to IT appointments and the ad:ed ratio is 7:9.
The Independent has also launched a tabloid listings section on Fridays. 24seven contains day planners and listings for all entertainments for the forthcoming week. The twenty-page pull out contains no adverts.
