RI:SE Gets New Presenter As Part Of Revamp

Channel 4 has confirmed that its new breakfast show RI:SE will have a new presenting team and a new look when it returns to TV screens on 20 January.

Ian Lee, who is best known for presenting Channel 4’s satirical 11 O’Clock Show, will be joining the programme as a new presenter. According to a spokeswoman for RI:SE, the appointment reflects the show’s increased focus on entertainment and comedy.

Lee will replace Mark Durden-Smith after Channel 4 decided not to renew his contract. It is believed that MTV UK presenter, Edith Bowman, will be the only remaining face from the original RI:SE line up, which once included Sky Sports presenter, Kirsty Gallacher; Sky One and Sky News presenter, Chris Rogers; Liz Bonnin from RTE and 4 Music’s Colin Murray.

The new look RI:SE will re-launch later this month from a new location based in the Whiteley’s shopping centre in Bayswater, it is hoped the new London location will help the show attract more celebrity guests.

RI:SE has had a turbulent time since its launch last April (see RI:SE Launch Date Revealed), with its producer leaving the programme after just four days on air following disagreements with the production company (see Producer Quits RI:SE After Four Days On Air).

Since then viewing figures for the show have fluctuated and RI:SE has been plagued by continued rumours that it is facing the axe (see Channel 4 Denies RI:SE To Be Taken Off Air). It is hoped the new look will provide the show with some respite and Channel 4 with a larger breakfast audience.
