RI:SE Set To Shine Early On Channel 4

RI:SE the new weekday breakfast show set to replace the Big Breakfast on Channel 4 could be on our screens by the end of the month, according to press reports.
Channel 4 has so far refused to comment on speculation that the tabloid-style breakfast show, created by Sky and Princess Productions, could launch within the next few weeks. However it has been confirmed that the show will be unveiled “later this spring” and will be hosted by Sky Sports presenter Mark Durden-Smith and Sky One presenter Kirsty Gallacher.
Durden-Smith and Gallacher will be joined by former Newsround presenter Chris Rogers and MTV host Edith Bowman to create a more serious, news-based programme intended to contrast with the anarchic humour of the Big Breakfast, which was taken off air last month following a decline in viewing figures.
The new programme, which has been described as the television equivalent of the Sun, will air five day a week from 6.55am to 9am and will include topical entertainment stories, news, weather and sport.
It is hoped that RI:SE will help to boost Channel 4’s dwindling early morning audience, which slipped to as low as 300,000 during the latter days of the Big Breakfast.
