Last night’s battle between AC Milan and Manchester United in the first leg of the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League was a top score for ITV1, grabbing an average adult audience of more than 6.8 million for the duration of the game’s coverage.
The commercial broadcaster gained a 32% viewing share between 7.30pm and 10pm, with a last minute strike from Wayne Rooney securing a thrilling 3-2 win for the Reds at Old Trafford.
BBC One’s EastEnders gained a viewing share of 35% for the first half-hour of the match’s coverage, with more than 6.5 million adults on average tuning in to see what the increasingly sinister Stella would next inflict on little Ben Mitchell.
Holby City followed netting more than 4.8 million (22.6%) on average for the programme’s hour-long duration. Over on Channel 4, Selling Houses Abroad in both Normandy and Spain attracted not far off two million adults on average (9%), whilst Tony Robinson’s special Time Team investigation into Britain’s Drowned World lured just over 2.2 million (10.4%).
Five’s CSI double bill once again proved popular for the broadcaster, with more than 2.6 million (11.6%) and more than 2.1 million (12.6%) watching CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami respectively.
