Royal Mail Launches Sponsorship Policy

The Royal Mail has released a sponsorship strategy, which has been given to all managers, and which outlines the themes and provides guidelines. Key areas to be targeted for sponsorship are education, crime prevention, environment and sport.

These four key areas were chosen after extensive research showed them to be themes customers would support, say the Royal Mail. The sport theme provides opportunities for links to Royal Mail’s major sponsorship, its support of both the British Olympic and Paralympic teams.

Peter Howarth, MD of Royal Mail, said, “We are very much part of the community, so it is important that our sponsorship policy should reflect this unique position. Sponsorship is also an important element in our marketing mix.”

As well as the British Olympic and Paralympic Associations, Royal Mail also sponsors the European Youth Olympic Day, Royal Mail Ready Willing and Able for Sport and the National Children’s Letter Writing Competition.
