Royal Tournament Moves To ITV

For the first time The Royal Tournament will be shown on ITV. After more than 40 years on the BBC the show has swapped sides. The Royal Tournament will be produced by LWT and will be broadcast on the network this Summer.

Gladiator’s producer Ken Warwick will oversee the action-packed show and Jonathan Glazier will direct the broadcast production. Nigel Lythgoe, controller of entertainment at LWT has taken on the role of executive producer for the show.

The show will be the first in a bumper royal package on ITV. The 1997 Royal Variety Performance is also going to be produced by LWT for screening on ITV in the Autumn and the Queen’s Speech is the third ‘royal’ programme to move over to ITV. ITN Productions will produce and distribute this programme.
