RTL To Sell Atlantic 252?

RTL is in talks with Guardian Media Group (GMG) and UBC regarding the sale of its 80% stake in longwave radio station Atlantic 252, according to press speculation.

It has been reported that GMG and UBC plan to close Atlantic, which broadcasts across most of the UK, in order to replace it with an analogue version of their digital speech-based station Oneword.

A spokesperson for RTL today confirmed that the group was looking to sell the station but refused to go into further detail, saying only that: “There is more than one interested party.” GMG and UBC were unavailable for comment.

Oneword is joint owned by GMG, UBC and Certitech Holdings. The UK’s only other dedicated speech station is TalkSPORT, which is owned by The Wireless Group.
