Rugby Clubs To Stay With BSkyB
Contrary to press reports earlier this week, a spokesperson for the English Professional Rugby Union Clubs has told MediaTel that the top 24 English rugby union clubs have no intention of abandoning their coverage deal with BSkyB.
EPRUC said that the arrangement was beneficial to all those involved and its quarrel was not with BSkyB but with the Rugby Football Union. The five-year deal was signed in June and is worth £87.5m *BSkyB Signs Rugby Deal Worth £87.5m. If however the clubs decide to split from the RFU (under whose auspices the TV coverage was negotiated), as the current dispute is threatening, then the clubs will probably have to renegotiate or form a new arrangement with BSkyB.
