The Department of Industry is understood to have launched an inquiry into how confidential details of its investigation into possible irregularities in dealings with Saatchi & Saatchi shares were made public.
The investigation in question is understood to centre around dealings by the Saatchi brothers in Saatchi & Saatchi shares at the time of their departure from the company. The investigation has renewed bitterness between Maurice Saatchi and his former company with him accusing Cordiant of turning the DTI investigation into a personal attack.
Cordiant confirmed that the Department of Industry is investigating its financial dealings, and said that it is co-operating fully with the investigators.
