Scot Radio Acquires Irish Station

Scottish Radio has announced that it will be acquiring Downtown Radio of Northern Ireland for almost £9.7m.

Scottish Radio has interests in nine radio stations in Scotland and, following interim results in May *Scottish Radio Profits Rise To £3.23m which showed good growth, it was widely believed that the group was in expansion mood. Downtown last year had pre-tax profits of £890,000 and a turnover of £4.55m and in the latest Rajar figures the station had a weekly reach of 25% and 13.7% of listening share.
