Scott Manson Appointed New Editor Of Loaded

IPC has announced that Scott Manson is to take over from Keith Kendrick as editor of its flagship men’s lifestyle title Loaded.
Kendrick, who joined Loaded just 18 months ago from IPC’s women’s title Chat, is moving on to the newly created position of group editor of new product development at IPC Ignite.
Manson, previously Loaded‘s deputy editor, has considerable experience within the magazine industry and prior to joining IPC, was editor of Ministry magazine. He has also worked at The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Mixmag and Time Out.
Eric Fuller, group publishing manager of IPC ignite, commented: “In the latest ABC figures Loaded was the only mainstream men’s title to achieve sales stability. Scott is extremely well placed to continue building on this success, having worked as Keith’s deputy for more than a year and been a key player in every element of Loaded’s rejuvenation.”
Manson added: “I have had an amazing time on Loaded so far. I have had the time and space to get right under the skin of Loaded’s readers and I relish the challenge of taking over the best job in magazines.
The men’s lifestyle sector has experienced a rough ride over the past few years, following its rapid rise to success in the mid-nineties. The latest ABC results for January to June 2002 show that Loaded’s circulation has increased by 1.2% year on year to 309,041, up from 305,444 in the same period the previous year.
However, analysis of Loaded‘s ABC figures over a five year period shows that the magazine has seen circulation decline considerably from its peak in the late nineties. Despite this it has been widely reported that AOL Time Warner, which owns IPC, is considering launching, Loaded in the US.
