Scottish Radio Reports Rise In Turnover

Scottish Radio Holdings reported strong growth when it announced its preliminary final results today. Turnover for the group increased by 26% to £55.1 million, and pre-tax profit was £13,608 million, compared with £11,314 million for the same period last year.

This year has seen the group develop its digital radio interests, with the formation of Score Digital which won the licence for the digital multiplex in Glasgow and recently bid for the second London licence with GWR (see GWR And Scottish Radio Unite In London Licence Bid). The group has also made significant acquisitions in its outdoor division with the acquisition of Vision Posters (see Third Outdoor Acquisition Enhances Scottish Radio Portfolio).

The group’s chairman Lord Gordon of Strathblane commented on the finals: “After another year of strong growth, we have been able to report first class results, with outstanding performances from our three divisions – radio, publishing and outdoor. Our radio and outdoor divisions in particular have generated marked increases in advertising revenue…We are increasing investment in our internet activities in order to enhance further our already market-leading brands and develop e-commerce activities.”
