Scottish Rival To Cosmo And Marie Claire
A northern rival to Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire is to be launched in Scotland this spring. The new title is edited by Grace Franklin, a former Scottish Daily Record features writer.
The title, which has an initial print-run of 10,000, will cost £2.00 and is aimed at ABC1 women aged 30 plus. Franklin commented that the magazine will “reflect the lives of women in Scotland today.”
The project has taken nearly two years to develop and is still dependent on cash donations, despite the financial support already secured from several leading Scottish businesswomen.
Inspiration has come from Irish titles such as Woman’s Way, which have seized large chunks of consumer advertising. Franklin hopes to secure success by giving the magazine a broader content and making it “supportive of women, but not anti-men” and most of all, “sassy, sophisticated and a damned good read.”
