Sega In Cable Deal
Press rumours are continuing that TCI International, the world’s largest cable operator, is close to a deal with Sega to launch a computer games channel.
The deal would be important for Flextech, the UK cable and satellite provider, which is controlled by US-based TCI. Flextech would take the rights to launch Sega games channels in countries such as the UK, the Netherlands and Denmark. A formal announcement on the deal could come next week.
The Sega channels, which are expected to launch in Europe by the Autumn, would give subscribers unlimited access to 25 games, which would be frequently changed, for between £10-£12 a month. Sega games can cost as much as £50 to £60 each.
Neither Sega nor Flextech could confirm these reports.
