Senior Buyers Form Start-Up Agency

Three senior media buyers will next month open a new agency offering advertisers a quality of service which the founders believe is not always available from some of the larger agencies. Richard Britton, former media director at CIA, Nigel Breckon, previously press director at Carat and Bill Jones, who headed MediaCom, will open the doors to The Jones Breckon Britton Company on 2 August.

The start-up venture is being backed by MBS Media, one of the largest independent media agencies in the country. At launch, The Jones Breckon Britton Company, will have billings of £13 million; details of particular clients will be announced shortly.

The agency is aiming at UK-only advertisers that have an advertising spend of anywhere between £500,000 and £10 million annually. The ethos behind the start-up is to provide clients with a quality of service that is not always available from the very large agencies that are handling big, international accounts.

A number of advertisers have already approached the trio, who have been on gardening leave from their respective agencies, and a significant growth in business is expected within the first year of trading.
