BSkyB was still the media sector’s big story yesterday following reports that shareholders are planning a major boardroom revolution to try oust all of the non-executives up for election at next week’s annual general meeting. The stock was seen down 0.30%.

Elsewhere, Carlton and Granada were seen under pressure, down 3,43% and 3.81% respectively. The groups yesterday confirmed that the former head of Lloyds TSB Sir Brian Pitman is to become interim chairman of ITV plc (see ITV Plc Unveils Steering Committee).

Broader market sentiment was weakened yesterday as profit takers moved in following last weeks strong gains.
