Sharewatch: Carlton Row Threatens Planned ITV Merger
Carlton and Granada were seen in the spotlight once again yesterday, down 1.38% and 0.86% respectively as wrangling over management positions at the merged ITV group continued.
Independent directors at Carlton warned yesterday that shareholder pressure to oust Michael Green as chairman designate could undermine its planned £4.5 billion merger with Granada (see Carlton Defies Shareholders Over Calls To Oust Green).
Elsewhere, Cable and Wireless was seen up 2.14% as the telecoms operator announced the commercial availability of its new information service for international payments.
Broader market sentiment was stunted as invested await key corporate results over the coming days as this week will bring results from roughly one third of the S&P 500 companies.
