Sharewatch: ITV Partners In Focus On Merger Speculation
Carlton and Granada remained in focus on Tuesday as investors considered reports that Carlton chairman, Michael Green, has threatened to call off the proposed merger if the two groups are forced to sell their advertising sales houses (see Carlton Boss Threatens To Halt Planned ITV Merger). Carlton saw its stock remain stable at 104p, while Granada improved by 1.48%.
Chrysalis was also seen in focus following a strong set of results (see Chrysalis Radio Outperforms Industry). However, the group has reportedly dismissed suggestions that it is to put its radio assets up for sale. The stock was seen up 1.47%.
Bullish sentiment dominated market activity on Tuesday and the post-war relief rally is proving to be more resilient than many strategists had expected. However, analysts remain sceptical of calling an end to the three year bear market.
