The television sector was again the focus of market attention due to its plans, or lack of, for terrestrial digital TV.
At the start of the week those broadcasters not involved in the consortiums again experienced large price drops: Scottish Television fell 81.5p to 546p, Yorkshire-Tyne Tees dropped 80p to 1,102.5p, HTV lost 30p and Ulster dropped 14p. Carlton, Granada and BSkyB all made modest improvements, rising 16.5p, 20p and 10p respectively.
The action also affected related companies in different media, with Mirror Group, owning almost 20% of STV, falling 4.5p to 205p while United News & Media, controlling 30% of HTV fell 31.5p to 671p.
