News that Channel 5 and BSkyB’s Sky Five Text venture had won the licence to provide the C5 teletext service failed to impress the markets and the satellite broadcaster continued to have a torrid time on Friday, falling 9p to 438.5p.
The Radio Authority’s decision on Thursday to allow the takeover of Virgin Radio by Capital Radio benefited Capital’s share price, which increased 15p to 505p and then rose a further 5.5p on Friday.
Publisher Reed International was included in the FTSE 100’s best performers table and shares increased 11.5 to 619p on Thursday on the back of a positive recommendation from Goldman Sachs.
