The newspaper sector remained largely static, whilst only slight blips occurred amongst the TV companies. A US investment road show created a little excitement in Carlton’s shares, which rose 16.5p to 489p on Tuesday, while Granada fell 17p to 870.5p on Tuesday and a further 12p on Wednesday as a result of analysts’ reports. While they were positive about Granada’s trading for the year to September, there was disappointment that the disposal of the Exclusive hotels chain had drifted into the New Year.

As a result of its interim results provoking a spate of profit-taking amongst share holders, More O’Ferrall slipped 18.5p to 650.5p. The figures released on Tuesday showed pre-tax profits had increased to £6.2m *More O’Ferrall May Change Name.
