Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television was the major casualty last week, when financial results showed a disappointing performance by sales house Laser *YTTV Hits £13.3m Profit. YTTV’s declining ad revenue sent shares sliding from 1237.5p at the start of the week to 1172.5p by Friday. Coinciding with this, Granada shares fell by 15p to 851p on the day of Yorkshire’s results as Granada is expected to mount a take-over bid at some stage.
The upheavals at the Express titles on Wednesday sent its owners, United News & Media, tumbling from 705p to 697.5p *Express Titles Face Upheaval, whilst rumours that Labour would introduce a new ‘spectrum’ tax on commercial TV companies affected a number of broadcasters: HTV dropped 9p to 333.5p, STV fell from 702.5p to 696.5p and BSkyB finished up half a penny down at 570p.
