Sharewatch: WPP Falls On Sars Concerns
WPP was seen in focus on Thursday as investors considered the potential cost of the effects of the Sars virus on the global advertising market. The stock was seen down 1.05%.
The fall came in spite of a series of unusually bullish comments from WPP chief executive, Sir Martin Sorrell, who said there were “significant” signs of recovery in the world-wide advertising market.
Fears over the economic fall-out from the Sars virus subdued trading yesterday, as analysts forecasted global recession linked to the spread of the epidemic.
On the corporate news-front, reports have emerged that former Granada chief executive, Steve Morrison and ITV’s former head of programming, David Liddiment, have teamed up to buy Chrysalis’ television division.
